“Padron Ambassador” Maduro
This nearly seven inch cigar, sporting a forty-two ring guage had an oily dark brown wrapper which was extremely toothy. The pre lit aroma consisted of faint tobacco notes and a very powerful chocolate smell. The ash was bright white in color, showing tooth in the ash itself. The burn was razor sharp and never needed any attention. The draw had the perfect amount of resistance and provided tons of rich and oily medium to full bodied smoke. The first third produced flavors of earth and leather with wood and faintly sweet aged tobacco notes on the draw. The finish had a very nice caramel and cocoa like note. The smoke coming off of the foot had a very pleasant floraly aged tobacco aroma. The second third was still providing great creamy smooth flavors of a sweet coffee and tobacco on the draw with the same cocoa on the finish, however now mixing with a slight pepper note, making an almost spicey chocolate flavor. Approaching the final third, all the previously mentioned flavors seemed to take on an almost roasted dark profile. Faint creamy and sweet notes were still present however. The flavors now consisted of a strong coffee, dominating the draw with a pepper note which would last from one draw too the next. For the price of these sticks, i would make them part of my daily rotation. I’ve read a lot of reviews which would put down the Ambassador and for the life of me, i can’t tell why.
